Fossas can start mating and getting a family around the age of four.  Breeding season starts in the fall so they can have their young in the spring.  Females tend to make their dens (place to raise young) in old termite mounds or empty hollow logs.  Usually there are about 2-4 pups in a litter, which are born without teeth with their eyes still closed.  Their eyes open around 16 to 25 days old.  If in danger, or just hungry, the pups would make a noise called “mewling”.
