The weight of the fossa can go from 11 pounds, to 22 pounds, all depending if it’s a male or female. The tail of the fossa is almost the same length as the body, about 26-35 inches (65-90 centimeters). The tail really helps balance for climbing trees and jumping from tree to tree. Their feet are hairless and padded so they can get a good grip on the trees, and in case you didn’t know, they love climbing. The fossa is perfect for climbing, especially since they have semi-retractable claws and flexible ankles which help them climb and jump from the trees.
